Jennifer Chelwick is running for City Council Place 5 with a clear, common sense agenda — one that puts residents first and keeps Waxahachie the community we love.
Responsible Growth
Waxahachie is growing fast. Jennifer believes growth should strengthen our neighborhoods, not strain them. She'll fight for smart land-use planning, infrastructure that keeps pace with development, and green spaces that preserve our small-town character.
That means requiring developers to fund the roads, utilities, and parks their projects demand so existing residents don't foot the bill.
Transparency in Government
City Hall should be an open book and its management team must be held to the highest standard of transparency and service to citizens. Jennifer will push for clear, accessible reporting on how tax dollars are spent, open discussions during council meetings, and plain language summaries of every major action taken and projects coming online.
When residents can see what their government is doing and why, trust grows and better decisions get made.
Easy to Do Business With
Waxahachie should be the easiest city in Texas to open a business, pull a permit, or propose new projects and get straight answers from City Hall. Jennifer will advocate for streamlined permitting for resident projects, streamlined design criteria packages for developer projects and for encouraging every city employee to have a can-do attitude.
A thriving local economy means more jobs, more tax revenue, and a more vibrant downtown for everyone.
Citizen Involvement
The best ideas for Waxahachie come from the people who live here. Jennifer will establish regular Q&A sessions, neighborhood advisory boards, and will require the citizens self service portal where residents currently track their permits and projects, to also allow city projects to be tracked and feedback submitted.
Your voice shouldn't stop at the ballot box. It should shape every decision the council makes, and you should NEVER be humiliated or berated for speaking up.
Public Safety
Safe streets and responsive emergency services are the foundation of a great city. Jennifer supports fully funding our police and fire departments, investing in personnel, and improving emergency response times across all neighborhoods.
Every family in Waxahachie deserves to feel safe in their home, on their street, and in their community.
Great Schools
Strong schools are the backbone of a strong community. Jennifer will advocate for the city to have an ISD liaison and she will work hand-in-hand with Waxahachie ISD to ensure city infrastructure supports school growth, safe routes to school, and after-school programming for every child.
Investing in our kids today is the smartest investment we can make in Waxahachie's future.
